North American Group to Open Plant in Mississippi From: Office of the Governor Filed 3/4/08 TTD (JACKSON, Mississippi)—Governor Haley Barbour March 3, applauded the announcement that Toyoda Gosei North American Group will build a new automotive parts manufacturing plant in Batesville, Miss. The plant is being established to develop interior and exterior plastic automotive components for the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi, Inc. (TMMMS), set to begin production in 2010. “Today’s announcement by Toyoda Gosei is great news both for Batesville and the entire state as Mississippi's standing in the automotive manufacturing sector continues to grow,” Governor Haley Barbour said. “I am very pleased this outstanding company is investing and creating new jobs in Mississippi.” The plant will invest approximately $19 million into its establishment. By 2010, it plans to employ 120 employees with sales of $31 million. The 103,300 sq. ft. facility is located on 14.27 acres of land just off Interstate 55. A project team from the Mississippi Development Authority helped Toyoda Gosei narrow down the Batesville site from contenders in at least two other states. “The Mississippi Development Authority and Panola County Partnership have been a valuable resource for Toyoda Gosei as we begin building a positive relationship with the Batesville community,” said Takashi Matsuura, President of Toyoda Gosei Company. “Both organizations also played a key role in introducing Toyoda Gosei to various incentive programs that include training for our future workforce.” Toyoda Gosei Missouri Corporation, Toyoda Gosei North American Group’s largest U.S. plant, will support the operation of the new plant. Toyoda Gosei North America currently has manufacturing operations in six states in the United States.
